CM Notes
We’ve had a busy couple of weeks again. It seems strange how the time flies by. The development progress is astounding to behold; I find myself staring with wide eyes at some of the innovations that are coming out from all of the different teams. I’ve been playing MMOs for years and I was heavily into MUDs before then, and some of this stuff is so fresh it’s stunning. It really gets you excited about all the possibilities TCoS has to offer.
The first Dev Chat was a great success. We had a bundle of good questions come through as well as a few humorous interludes. The Warrior classes will be the topic of our next TCoS Dev Chat, so start thinking about your Warrior class questions!
This newsletter's feature story is about guild halls. So sit down, grab some juice and enjoy the seventh installment of the TCoS Newsletter!

Feature Story: Guild Halls
In issue 6 of the TCoS Newsletter we showed you the details of our player housing system. In this issue we will take a look at the guild halls.
The Chronicles of Spellborn will offer each guild its own guild hall. In this guild hall members of the guild have easy access to crafting npcs and shops. They can also enjoy a variety of guild exclusive functionalities. Unlike the player housing system, the guild halls will fully three dimensional. Let’s take a look at the features that are offered within these guild halls:
Guilds can acquire special rewards named trophies that grant all members of a guild a persistent bonus. Each trophy will give a unique bonus and only one trophy can be activated at a time. Within the guild hall, the guild leader or the guild's officers can change the active trophy so the entire guild can enjoy a specific trophy bonus depending on the guild’s needs at any given time. Of course all acquired trophies will be on display for guild members to admire whenever they are in the hall.
There are different ways for a guild to be rewarded with a trophy. A guild can, for instance, win a guild tournament. To allow the guild to practice for these tournaments, the guild hall offers a fighting pit only guild members can access or view. Strategies and techniques can be designed and tested without having to worry about rival guilds watching and preparing a counter strategy.
Besides offering room to train for tournaments, the guild hall offers a large meeting room where guilds can discuss their plans for Shard realm domination. The meeting room contains a large table where players can sit down to enhance the role playing aspects of the game if they wish to do so.
The guild vault, located in the guild hall, can be used to hold and distribute all kinds of items. Guild members have access to stored items that have been marked as accessible to them by the guild's officers and leader.
Once a guild obtains a certain level of collective wealth they can hire specific crafting npcs that will be accessible to all members within the guild. Although hiring a crafting npc is expensive, large guilds will save on the costs that each individual member would otherwise have to pay for visits to a public crafting npc's shop.
TCoS Dev Chat 2
We’re going to be bringing you a Dev Chat every few weeks until release. The second dev chat is scheduled on Saturday the 13th of May at 21:00 CEST. Each chat will be done in Q&A format with the QAbot open to receive questions slightly before the start of the chat. If you want to participate, or just listen, the chats will be held in #spellborn-qa on our irc server: irc://irc.tcos.com. A log from each chat will be made available on the forums after each session.
The next chat will concern the three Warrior classes that were recently revealed in this article.
